WHO WE ARE

What is Bhakti Yoga?

“Bhakti” means devotion which is caused by unadulterated love. “Yoga” means connection to divinity. In essence Bhakti yoga is connecting to Divinity through loving devotion.

Bhakti is described in the Vedic tradition as a beginningless path. At the dawn of creation, sacred knowledge is transmitted through sound vibration — wisdom that is preserved in the Bhagavad Gita, the classic text on yoga, and the Shrimad Bhagavatam, the crown jewel of all Vedic literature.

Living Sacred Connection

Bhakti Yoga is a living tradition that invites us to align our words, actions, intelligence, and senses in devotion. It offers a holistic way of life that transforms the ordinary into the sacred, cultivating a growing and reciprocal relationship with the Divine.

The Joyful Path

Bhakti Yoga awakens the recesses of our childlike nature, offering space to cultivate divine expression and lasting joy. Whatever challenges we face in life, the practice of Bhakti provides the key to peace, happiness, and union with the Divine.

What we're about

BYT Leadership

As the co-founder of Bhakti Yoga Tulsa, my spiritual journey began in the early 90s when my family was first introduced to the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and other Vedic literatures. Growing up with skeptical, analytical parents meant my youth was filled with inquiry—always searching for deeper truths. But when my mother encountered these sacred texts, everything shifted. A seed was planted in our lives, one that I felt called to nurture and share.

When I moved to Oklahoma years later, I realized a universal truth: everyone is searching. We all long for lasting happiness, yet too often look outside ourselves—in things or relationships—to satisfy the soul’s inner yearning.

In 2018, I embraced the opportunity to serve as community steward and lead organizer of Bhakti Yoga Tulsa. From that moment, my purpose has been clear: to create a grassroots movement where seekers of all backgrounds can gather, discover living philosophy, and build a tangible relationship with the Divine.

Our vision is simple yet powerful—to bring people together in song, dance, meditation, and the joyful glorification of God’s holy names. In this community, every sincere soul has a place, and every voice adds to the chorus of spiritual awakening.
